Yes, completely. There's no sign-up, no login and no daily limit: just open the page and start. It works in your browser on any computer, phone or tablet with nothing to install, and your files are never uploaded — everything happens on your device.
Which formulas does it support?
Hundreds of Excel functions — SUM, AVERAGE, IF, IFS, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, TEXT, DATE, NETWORKDAYS, PMT and many more — with the same syntax as Excel. Formulas you type are saved in the file, so they keep working in Excel.
Can I open a spreadsheet from Excel, edit it and send it back?
Yes. Open the .xlsx, change it and click Download. Values, formulas, number formats, fonts, colours, borders, alignment, merged cells, column widths, row heights, hidden rows and columns, frozen panes, sheet colours and pictures come back in the file.
How do I make a chart?
Select the cells with your data (with the labels in the first row and column), click Chart at the top, pick column, bar, line, area or pie, and insert it. The chart is placed next to your data and saved in the file as a picture.
How do I freeze the top row or sort and filter?
Use the ribbon: View has Freeze, and the Data tab has Sort and Filter. Click a column's filter button to show only the rows you want.
Will I lose my work if I close the tab?
No. While you edit, the workbook is saved on this device automatically and listed under “Recent on this device” when you come back. Download it whenever you want a copy to keep or send.
Can I open CSV, XLS, ODS or Numbers files?
Yes. .xlsx files open with their formatting; .xls, .ods, .numbers and .csv files open with their values, formulas, number formats, merged cells and sizes. Whatever you open, Download saves it as .xlsx — or use File → Export for CSV or ODS.
Are my spreadsheets uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser and workbooks are only kept on this device. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
