Questions

How do I open a DOCX file without Microsoft Word?

Choose the file on this page and it opens right here in your web browser. You don't need Word or any other program, and you don't need an account.

Can I open a Word document on my phone?

Yes. On an iPhone or Android phone, tap “Choose document” and pick the file from your Files app, your downloads or an email attachment you saved. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in on the text.

Can I change the document here?

No, this is a viewer: you can read the document, search it, copy text from it and print it, but not change it. To make changes, open it in a word processor such as Word, LibreOffice Writer or Google Docs.

How do I copy text from the document?

Select the text with your mouse, or press and hold on a word on a phone and drag the handles, then copy it (Ctrl + C on a computer). You can paste it into an email, a message or another document.

How do I print a Word document?

Open the document, then choose Print. Each page prints the way it is laid out in the document, so you don't need Word installed to get a proper printout.

Will it open a document that has a password?

Yes. If the document is locked with a password you'll be asked to type it in, and then it opens as usual. Without the right password it can't be opened — that is what the password is for.

Can I see the comments people left in the document?

Yes. Comments show next to the text they belong to, with the name of the person who wrote them, so you can read a reviewed document the way it was sent to you.

Is my document sent anywhere?

No. Your document is opened by your own web browser on your own device. It isn't uploaded to us or stored anywhere, and it's gone when you close the page.
